Questionnaire

Together Me a Lizzie put together a Questionnaire, we ensured that we got results from as many people as possible, this included any friends and family members, class mates and teachers that were at college with us at the time.
After we had all questionnaires returned, we analysed them all, in order to come to a conclusion as to what our target audience was to be and how we should be presenting our thriller and what style would be best for us to use. This led us to being able to go in the right direction when wanting to put our thriller together.
We then went ahead and decided to show our results in pie charts;

Are you Male or Female?
The results we got for the amount of males in comparison to the amount of females, was nearly equal. However it did show that there were slightly more males.

What age group do you fit into?when gathering the results, we found that from this question, which we asked in order to find out what the best age group would be when setting a target audience. The results show that the most popular age group was 15-25 year olds.

Is the thriller genre a genre which you watch regularly?
The results show that more people that filled out our questionnaire do watch thrillers, mostly just 'sometime'. But more people watch thrillers than the amount that do not watch it reularly.

What sub-genre of thriller do you enjoy watching? (can choose multiple)
The most popular choices were shown to include; horror, mystery and crime. Whereas the rest of the options did not prove to be very successful from the people that filled out our questionnaires. This helps to direct us when finally deciding on the genre of our thriller.

Do you prefer to know the main story line in the first two minutes of the film or be left questioning?
The results show that most people would like to have subtle hints, rather than being able to know the main storyline of the thriller from the opening sequence or than being left completely clueless. This will help us when we come to filming and editing as we will know what to include.

Do you prefer more dialogue in the beginning of the film rather than just sound?
The results show that most people would like more sound than diologue used in the opening sequence, which would be used to build suspense and help set the correct the atmosphere for our thriller genre.

Is there a particular setting which you like a thriller to be shot in? (if yes please state where)
The majority did not have any ideas of the setting they thought we should shoot it, although those that did stated that we should chose one ourselves, and ensure that it is one that builds mystery and suspense.
Are there any particular factors which you like to see in the opening sequence to a thriller?

From this question we gathered many suggestions, these included the idea that we should use a montage of clips, that we should possibly use a range of close-ups in order to create the mystery of where they actually are and also the idea that we should use quick snappy shots, this was in order to build suspence and excitement and to make it feel as though a lot is going on.

Name a thriller you particularly enjoyed watching. We had a range of thrillers mentioned, these included;  Black swan, Fight Club, Case 39, Seven, Signs, Cloverfield, and Paranormal Activity.

We understand that our results are like to be influenced by the type of people that we asked to fill them out, and therefore our use of selection may have had a bad effect, However the fact that most of them do watch Thrillers on a regular basis, suggests that we are like to get results that are more useful.
